The Emir of Deba, Alhaji Ahmed Usman, has cautioned Nigerian politicians to desist from provocative or violent campaigns that could trigger crises in the nation.
The emir spoke yesterday in an interview with newsmen, saying the country needs peace and unity at the moment.
While charging politicians and their supporters on tolerance, the monarch also advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs during next year’s elections.
“To achieve meaningful development in the state and country, we should strive to maintain peace and tolerate one another.
Peace is the bedrock of development and economic improvement of any society that aspires to genuinely progress.
“Our youths should therefore refrain from bad habits, especially drug abuse and political thuggery. Instead, they should engage in crafts and ventures that will make them independent and contribute their quota to the advancement of their communities,” he said.
