The family of a four-year-old Mirabel Ilemoh, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (childhood cancer), is desperately seeking help to the tune of N5,914,610 million from Nigerians for the treatment of their daughter.
The treatment is for four-year of chemotherapy to save little Mirabel, who is currently on a sick bed.
Research shows that acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects white blood cells.
It is the most common childhood cancer. It occurs when a bone marrow cell develops errors in its DNA.
Through a non-profit organization, Gifting Volunteer Network (Gvn), the family has called on the public to save their daughter.
The president of Gvn, Mr. Belele David. T, told our reporter that Mirabel was among the many critical cases his organization has helped through public intervention.
According to the medical report from Irrua Specialist Hospital in Benin City, Edo state, Mirabel was diagnosed with disease on May 28, 2023.
Speaking to our correspondent, the patient’s mother, Mrs Gloria Ilemoh, lamented her ordeal.
“Mirabel is the first of two children. She has been on a sick bed for months now. It hurts to see your child suffer, and you can’t help,” she decried.
She continued that neither she nor her husband had the wherewithal to cater to the medical bill.
“My husband earns N27,000 as a salesman in a company. He can’t cater to this big amount,” she further lamented.
Hence, on behalf of her family, Gloria appealed to all Nigerians to save her daughter from cancer of the bone and blood.
“Mirabel is one of the many cases Gifting Volunteer Network have handled over the years. This little girl is suffering and needs urgent help,” she added.
The organization, therefore, pleaded with the public to save little Mirabel, assuring the general public of transparency and accountability.
