Less than 24 hours after the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) demanded his unconditional release with complaints surrounding his health, embattled IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu has been allowed to see his personal physician.
Kanu’s Special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, announced on Wednesday that the Department of State Services (DSS) had now allowed the IPOB leader to gain access to his medical doctor.
LEADERSHIP recalls that Ejimakor, together with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) raised an alarm that the DSS denied his access to his medical doctor despite formal requests made to them concerning his deteriorating health condition.
IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful had on Wednesday issued a statement urging the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally to avert potential danger.
Mr Ejimakor, in a post on his X handle on Wednesday confirmed that the DSS has now allowed Kanu’s doctor to see him on Wednesday.
“Today, SSS finally allowed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s physician to see him.
“The doctor’s preliminary report presented complex medical conditions that require Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be taken to a hospital for a more detailed diagnosis.
“This will follow a report that will be sent to DG-SSS by the doctor,” Ejimakor said.
Ejimakor however did not disclose if the DSS had consented to the movement of Kanu to a hospital for treatment.
