Flood Sweeps Away Edo Motorcyclist

A commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as Okada Rider has been swept away by flood in the university town of Ekpoma, Esan West local government area of Edo State.

The sad incident occurred on Tuesday evening

The tragic incident has sparked renewed concern over the worsening case of erosion in most parts of the state, which was captured in a viral video circulating widely across social media platforms.

The narrator in the video, who said the incident occurred at Uwenlenbo Road, near Zekor Hotel in Ekpoma, described the scene as horrifying, claiming that an intense rush of water overwhelmed the rider, who was carrying a female passenger.

Another eyewitness was overheard asking people to assist the cyclist, who struggled with the wave of water until he was swept away.

Sympathisers displayed the victim’s motorcycle number plate and begged those who knew him to come up to identify him.

The tragedy has prompted calls for urgent intervention by both state and federal government agencies as erosion continues to threaten life and property in the state.
