Hajiya Amina Alhassan, former Weekend editor of LEADERSHIP, was humility personified. The soft-spoken Amina was a workaholic despite having to raise her children alone following her husband’s death about 22 years ago.
I recall linking her up with the former first lady of Kwara State, Mrs Omolewa Abdulfatah, for possible assistance after we discussed her challenges as a widow. According to Amina, they later became friends.
Hajiya Amina is a religious, God-fearing, and committed mother who toiled day and night to give her children quality education.
May Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her a place in Aljanah Firdaus. Amin!!!

Amina Alhassan was such an amazing and dependable colleague. She was humorous and kind to a fault. Highly patient, respectful, responsible, and true mother whose care for her family was super. In her difficult times, she never relented in advocating responsible family upbringing.
The news of her death was really shocking and devastating. I take solace in the fact that she was human, and we will all pay the ultimate price someday. May God forgive Amina and give her family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Adieu, my daughter. – Auwal Muazu

She was a fantastic person and Editor to work with – gentle and humane. She provided leadership when we were on a special assignment to cover the 2014 National Conference together for about six months here in Abuja. May her soul rest in peace, amen.

As a Muslim, I cannot say her death is surprising to me, since I am also waiting for my time, but her death came as a shock to me. Despite having left Leadership and almost all the staff for long, she has been my friend. I can only say, Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihirraj’un, and pray to the Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljanna firdausi. My heartfelt condolences to you, her beautiful kids, her family and the entire Leadership Staff.

O Allah, forgive our Aunty Amina, have mercy on her, grant her peace, and pardon her. Honour her abode and expand her grave. Cleanse her with water, snow, and ice, and purify her of sins as a white garment is purified of dirt. O Allah, make her grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise and fill it with light. O Allah, let her illness be a means of purification for her, raise her ranks, and reunite us with her in the highest level of Paradise.
— Amina Abdullahi

No! This is saddening. My Dearest Amina dead?
–Emmanuel Ogbeche
Amina was among a special breed of people who knew how to bear their troubles with a cheerful face. She was full of candour and unpretentious. The last time we spoke, I told her she would soon begin to enjoy the fruits of her long labour of raising her kids all alone, and she just gave that trademark smile of hers. And now this…. May God show her mercy and admit her to heaven.
