The permanent campus of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), is rapidly taking shape as the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sonny Echono, conducted an inspection tour of major ongoing projects at the institution.

During the visit, Echono assessed the quality and pace of construction works, reaffirming TETFund’s commitment to supporting infrastructure development aimed at strengthening teaching, learning and research in Nigeria’s specialised health sciences university.

The Executive Secretary demonstrated his unwavering support for the rapid development of the university, according to a statement issued by the institution’s Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit.

Echono, during the unscheduled working visit to the institution’s permanent site at Akwete-Akpa, was accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Aba Uba, and other stakeholders of the university on Sunday, May 31, 2026, to assess the level and quality of ongoing construction works.

The team visited several strategic project sites, including the network of internal roads, the university gate, culverts, the Administrative Building, the College of Medicine complex, and the female hostel, which has already been completed and is ready for use.

The delegation also assessed the progress of other critical infrastructure aimed at facilitating the university’s seamless transition to its permanent campus.

The visit provided another opportunity for the university leadership to monitor project execution firsthand, ensure adherence to specifications, and sustain momentum towards the completion of ongoing infrastructure projects.

Observations from the inspection revealed significant progress across the various project sites, reinforcing confidence in the feasibility of relocating the university to its permanent site before the end of the year.
