FULL LIST: 28-Year-Old Umahi’s Son,12 Others Win APC Chairmanship Seats In Ebonyi LG Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in all 13 chairmanship and 171 councillorship positions contested in the Ebonyi State local government elections.

According to Vanguard, the results were announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), Patrick Enyi, at the commission’s headquarters on Onwe Road, Abakaliki.

Among those declared winners was 28-year-old Osborn Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who was elected chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area.

The other chairmen-elect are Peace Agwu for Ishielu, Paul Ituma for Ohaukwu, Friday Nwuhuo for Ezza North, Chinedu Mkpuma for Ezza South, Chidi Nwode for Ikwo and Timothy Nwachi for Afikpo.

Others include Ikechukwu Ogbofia for Onicha, Michael Kalu Anyim for Ivo, Simeon Onuoha for Edda, Helen Aduga for Izzi, Chidiebere Alo for Abakaliki and Chibueze Odigwe for Ebonyi Local Government Area.

Enyi said the exercise was conducted peacefully and described the election as free and fair, adding that candidates from other political parties also took part.

He commended residents who participated in the election for exercising their constitutional rights and praised security agencies for maintaining order throughout the process.

In his reaction, Umahi commended EBSIEC for what he described as the transparent and peaceful conduct of the poll.

The chairman-elect pledged to focus on rural development, youth empowerment and agricultural transformation as he assumes office.

The Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, described the results as further evidence of the party’s political strength in the state.

Emegha said the outcome reflected what he called the increasing support for the APC in Ebonyi and expressed optimism that the party would extend its winning streak to the 2027 general elections.
