Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno has expressed dismay over the hacking of his WhatsApp phone line by fraudsters, lamenting that the incident has disconnected him from the people.

Speaking at a forum in Eket local government area, the governor said he has sincerely missed his followers since the hacking and disruption of his communication line last week.

Reassuring everyone of his commitment to serve Akwa Ibom people and to remain connected with the electorates, the governor described the cloning of his regular phone line by hackers as worrisome and promised to restore the line soon.

He, therefore, charged his subjects to remain resolute and faithfully committed in their support to his administration as it strive to deliver the dividends of democracy across the 31 LGAs.

He noted that the hacking case was just a temporary setback that should not stop effective implementation of key policies and programmes of government.

The ongoing distribution of government palliatives, according to him, will be based strictly on the updated Social Register (SR), with no consideration for political affiliations.

He, therefore, warned political stakeholders at the grassroots against all tendencies of “winner takes all,” describing it as “anti-christian and not representative of the Akwa Ibom spirit.”
