Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has said that the Southern part of the state is central to his development agenda, pledging that he would continue to prioritise rural infrastructure as a tool for economic transformation.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of two roads in Jaba, Governor Sani said the project was not a routine duty but a personal commitment to the people who have endured hardship for years because of the road’s deplorable state.
The governor who described the reconstruction of the Jaba-Kwoi Road as a “lifeline” for Southern Kaduna, said that the road, which links Southern Kaduna communities to the Abuja road and beyond, holds enormous economic significance.
“I know the pain you have borne for many years because of this road; I have felt it myself. Each time I travel this route, I see your frustration; I understand your hardship and share your burden.
“That is why today’s groundbreaking is not merely a ceremonial duty; it is a personal commitment, a duty of conscience and the fulfilment of a solemn promise,” he said.
Earlier in the day, the governor had flagged off the construction of an access road to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.
Highlighting the broader context of his administration’s road programme, the governor noted that the first phase covered 85 roads spanning 785 kilometres, with 44 already completed.
The governor said the second phase added another 550 kilometres across more than 50 roads and bridges.
