Gwarzo Appointed Hausa Community Chancellor In Europe 

The Hausa Community in Europe has appointed Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo as its Chancellor, in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of Hausa culture, language and the welfare of Hausa communities in Europe.

The appointment was announced by the Emir of the Hausa Community in Europe, Alhaji Surajo Jankado, during the celebration of International Hausa Day held in Paris, France.

Speaking at the event, the Emir described the appointment as a significant step towards strengthening the unity and development of the Hausa community in Europe.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Gwarzo expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Hausa Community for finding him worthy of the appointment, pledging to work with stakeholders towards promoting the Hausa language, culture, identity and unity among Hausa people in Europe.

He said the new responsibility would provide an opportunity to contribute to initiatives aimed at preserving the Hausa heritage and ensuring that younger generations remain connected to their language, culture and values.

Professor Gwarzo also called for greater cooperation among Hausa communities across European countries, stressing the importance of unity, education and cultural preservation.

The International Hausa Day celebration brought together members of the Hausa community, traditional leaders, academics, cultural advocates and other stakeholders to celebrate the language, culture and heritage of the Hausa people.

During the event, Kano state Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf who was represented by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, described the appointment of Prof Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo as meritorious in consideration of his community service in both Europe and at home in Nigeria.

The Governor congratulated Prof. Adamu Gwarzo alongside the minister of education Prof. Suwaiba Ahmed, Nigeria’s permanent representative at UNESCO Dr. Hajjo Sani and Alaja Mufeedah Folashade Bola Tunubu (Iyaloja) who were turbaned at the 2026 International Hausa Day in Paris.
