Humanitarian Ministry Donates Sports Kits To NGO

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has donated sports kits to Young Ambassadors Against Drug Abuse Initiative and Street Children Parliament.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq while speaking during the donations said the gesture was in line with promoting the humanitarian ministry mandate.

She noted that it was also part of efforts to support the non governmental organisation in its drive to engage the girl child in sports.

Represented by the sports manager in the Ministry, Kazeem Adenekan, she said by engaging in sports activities, the productivity of the girl child will be high.

Umaru Farouq also said it will help in building healthy relationships among children.

She further said that the donation is meant to catch the girl child young and put them off the street.

The minister pledged that the Ministry will continue to support girl-child as well as vulnerable persons.

On her part, the country coordinator, Young Ambassadors Against Drug Abuse Initiative and Street Children Parliament, Hajia Khaleel Zaraih, lauded the donation.

In the same vein, the head, Special Duties in the Ministry, Madam Nadia Soso Muhammed, expressed the willingness of the Ministry to continue to partner with the organization in promoting the cause of the girl child.

The high point of the event was the handing over of the tracksuits, vests, and canvass by the sports manager in the Ministry Kazeem Adenekan, to the coordinator of the NGO.
