Ghana’s President, John Mahama, drew public attention at a recent religious gathering after asking his military Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to stay away from his behind a and sit down, assuring those present that he felt completely safe at the event.

In a dramatic moment that sparked cheers from the audience, Mahama turned to the military aide-de-camp and said, “Soldier, you can sit down, I am very safe here.”

The soldier, however, maintained professional protocol, explaining that he would need to be formally excused before taking a seat. He requested that the President tap him as a signal.

Complying with the request, Mahama tapped the soldier, who then proceeded to sit down.

Reinforcing his sense of security, the President Mahama added, “I am telling you, I am with my family,” a remark that was met with applause and approval from the crowd.

LEADERSHIP reports that the ADC to the President is a high-ranking military officer responsible for personal security, protection, and daily scheduling, often standing immediately behind the President during public engagements. The position is vital for the president’s security, ensuring quick attention to needs and managing personal logistics during outings.

However, in Nigeria in 2023, controversy arose when President Bola Tinubu’s ADC was seen sitting during a meeting, leading to debate over traditional ‘ever-standing’ protocol.
