This is even as the police dispelled the rumour that the act was committed by Fulani herders saying it was false and that it was the handiwork of “mischief makers who want to provoke unnecessary intertribal conflict between the good people of Imo State and northerners residing in the state.”
In a statement, Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye said Francis who hails from Ehime, Mbano local government area of Imo state, stabbed Kingsley as against alleged Fulani herdsmen attack as circulated on social media.
According to him, the slain Kingsley was a member of FUTO’s Man O’ War unit.

He said the suspect confessed that he had gotten into a heated argument with the late Kingsley, during which he brought out a knife and stabbed the FUTO student to death.

Okoye said the chief security officer of FUTO, DSP Patrick Egwu (retired) had sent a distress call to the police which was immediately responded to by a patrol team.

The suspect is 21 years old while the deceased was 22.
