The International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA) has approved Omobayo Marvelous Godwin’s appointment as its new director general.

The announcement was made by Dr Tunji John Asaolu, president and co-founder of IIEPEA, during a press conference yesterday in Abuja.

IIEPEA, registered in Canada and Nigeria, is renowned for its excellence in political economy and public administration. The institute’s mission is to foster a culture of empowerment, knowledge-sharing, and service, enabling individuals and organisations to thrive.

“Through innovative education, transformative research, and impactful community engagement, we are committed to cultivating leaders who drive positive change and contribute to the betterment of society,” Dr Asaolu stated.

According to the IIEPEA president, Godwin brings technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and rich political experience to the role—qualities that uniquely position him to lead the institute in achieving its goals.

“He embodies the spirit of innovation and collaboration that we seek in our leadership—qualities that are essential as we navigate the complex challenges facing political economy and administration on a global scale,” Asaolu added.

“As director general, he will oversee IIEPEA’s global operations, ensuring that the institute’s strategies and programs align with its vision and values, he said.

Dr. Asaolu further emphasised that Engr. Godwin’s engineering background and his deep understanding of political dynamics equips him to lead IIEPEA with vision and integrity.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Omobayo Marvelous Godwin expressed his gratitude for the appointment, describing it as both an honour and a responsibility.

“This appointment is not just an honour, it is a responsibility. As the saying goes, to whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.

He noted that he had carefully studied the terms of his appointment and the responsibilities attached to the office, adding:

“I understand clearly what is required of me, and I am ready to give my best. This role aligns perfectly with my passion and vision: to use knowledge, research, and leadership to improve governance, strengthen political systems, and help societies achieve better outcomes.”

He reiterated IIEPEA’s commitment to providing expertise, guidance, and solutions in political economy and administration and pledged to uphold that mission with discipline, commitment, and humility.

“I believe that progress comes when knowledge meets action. With your support, I want us to make IIEPEA a centre of excellence that not only produces ideas but also shapes policies, strengthens institutions, and promotes fairness and accountability in governance, he said.”

“I acknowledge that every promotion in my life comes from God Almighty. He has brought me this far, and I trust Him to guide me in this assignment. With His help and your cooperation, I am confident that together, we will move IIEPEA to greater heights.”

He concluded with a call for collective action: “Let us, therefore, join hands to give political economy and administration the attention they deserve. Let us work together to create positive change—not just for ourselves, but for future generations.”
