Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria in Abia State have suspended its two months old strike, saying no member would be penalised for taking part in the action.

The chairman of the chapter, Chinedu Eze, stated this yesterday while reading a communiqué issued after an emergency meeting by the members in the state capital, Umuahia. The communiqué was signed by the state attorney general and commissioner for justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna and commissioners for finance, Uwaoma Ukandu, and labour and productivity, Kingsley Nwokocha.

Others are JUSUN national president, Marwan Mustapha Adamu, the secretary of the chapter, Chibueze Nwachukwu, and the chairman himself, Chinedu Eze.

The chairman announced that the government had undertaken to pay arrears of leave bonuses to the members up till 2025, concurrently with other civil servants in the state.

He said payment of pensions due to verified retired judiciary staff would commence immediately, while discussions on how to strengthen judicial independence will continue.

‎Eze further said the government further undertook to adjust salaries of the members to conform with the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Structure (CONJUSS) template.

‎”The chapter shall ensure the members are verified by the Judicial Service Commission and continue to sensitize them on the ongoing digitization of the justice system in the state,” he added.
