The chairman of the Sanga local government area of Kaduna State, Hon. Anto Usman, has said the council is targeting 95 per cent of the vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 elections.
Usman said the target was based on what he described as the Kaduna State government’s development interventions in Sanga, as well as the council’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.
He told journalists that the residents of the council had benefitted from interventions in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and human capital development under Governor Sani.
He specifically cited the construction of a 10-kilometre road, the ongoing renovation and redesign of the General Hospital and the resuscitation of primary healthcare centres in the council.
Usman also mentioned the approval of a satellite campus of Kaduna State University as one of the major interventions in the area, which he said had remained relatively backward for many years.
According to him, the projects had demonstrated the administration’s attention to Sanga and would help strengthen the council’s efforts to mobilise residents ahead of the 2027 polls.
The chairman also commended Governor Sani for approving a 100 per cent increase in the remuneration of traditional rulers in the state, describing the decision as “a very good step in the right direction.”
He said the increase was particularly significant given the prevailing economic realities, adding that traditional rulers remained important stakeholders in maintaining peace and mobilising communities for development.
He disclosed that the local government currently had between 35,000 and 40,000 registered voters, expressing optimism that about 95 per cent of them would support the APC.
On security, Usman commended the existing relationship between the local government and security agencies, saying the collaboration had contributed to efforts to maintain peace in Sanga.
He nevertheless called for the deployment of additional security personnel to the area to complement ongoing security efforts and strengthen protection for residents and communities.
The chairman expressed optimism that continued investment in infrastructure, healthcare, education and other sectors, alongside improved security, would further enhance development in Sanga ahead of the 2027 elections.
