Kano Governor Seeks Assembly’s Nod For Disease Control Centre

Kano State governor Abba Yusuf has written to the Kano State House of Assembly for approval to establish the Kano State Centre for Disease Control.

The letter was addressed to the speaker, Hon Jibril Isma’il Falgore, who read it on the floor of the House during yesterday’s plenary session.

The speaker’s chief press secretary, Uba Abdullahi, in a statement he issued yesterday, said the governor pointed out that the centre would promptly address the prevailing disease outbreak in the state.

“The House received the letter and is undergoing legislative treatment.

“Similarly, the House has received a report from the House Standing Committee on Election matters in respect to screening of a nominee Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi for the appointment as Chairman, Kano State Independent Electoral Commission.

“The report which was read by the majority leader of the House, Hon Lawan Hussaini Dala, said the committee found the nominee eligible and qualified for the appointment based on his track records and provision of the 2001 Kano State Independent Electoral Law,” the statement noted.
