The Kano State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough with the recovery of two stolen vehicles in separate operations across Tarauni and Kumbotso Local Government Areas.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
The first incident involved a Toyota Corolla stolen on April 22 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Wuse, Abuja. The statement revealed, “Upon receipt of credible intelligence, operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) swiftly swung into action,” leading to the recovery of the vehicle at Darmarawa Lay-out in Naibawa, Tarauni LGA.
According to the statement “intelligence revealed that the vehicle was parked by a suspected notorious car thief who is currently at large,” adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
In a similar operation, the Command recovered a stolen Kia Optima taken from Khalifa Isyaka Rabiu Friday Mosque along BUK Road on April 24. It said, “detectives of Sharada Police Division immediately activated visibility policing strategies,” and, working with the Zone 5 Ja’en Vigilante Group, recovered the vehicle at Ja’en Quarters in the early hours of April 25.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved, praising “their professionalism, swift response, and dedication to duty that led to the recovery of the stolen vehicles.”
