The Kebbi Council of Chiefs yesterday commended Gov. Nasir Idris for the improved security situation and hitch- free Eid-el-Fitr across the state.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad-Mera, who doubles as the vice-chairman of the Council of Chiefs, gave the commendation when the council paid a courtesy visit to the governor in Birnin Kebbi.
“We are here to offer our heartfelt appreciation and to report that we observed a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr with no security challenges across the state,” Muhammad-Mera said.
He described the peaceful Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr as a testament to the hard work and leadership style of Gov. Idris and his administration.
“We also express our sincere thanks for the unwavering support extended to us before, during, and after the Ramadan period,” he said.
The emir further commended the governor for his prompt and effective response to security concerns, noting significant improvement in areas previously affected by insecurity.
“The security situation has drastically improved in areas that once faced challenges. We pray that Allah continues to guide your administration, granting you the wisdom, health, and strength to carry out your constitutional duties,” he said.
Idris, represented by his Deputy, Sen. Umar Abubakar-Tafida, thanked the traditional rulers for the visit and acknowledged their role in sustaining peace across the state.
“We thank Allah for His infinite mercy, as we were able to witness the successful completion of Ramadan and the peaceful celebration of Eid-el-Fitr,” he said.
Idris urged the traditional rulers to sustain their support for the state government, particularly in the areas of community policing and intelligence sharing.
The governor also stressed the need for unity among traditional leaders.
He urged them to collaborate without rancour, envy or hatred for the overall development of the state and the country.
“Let us continue to work together in peace for the progress of our state and the country,” the governor said. (NAN).
