Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has tasked the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to ensure the enforcement of teachers’ discipline and morality among the pupilsand students in the primary and secondary schools across the state.
He gave the charge at the launch of Teachers Volunteers and the renaming of a school from Government Day Secondary School, Makerar-Gandu to Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu Government Day Secondary School, Makerar-Gandu in Birnin Kebbi metropolis.
The governor was represented by his deputy, Senator Abubakar Umar Tafidan Kebbi.
Speaking in his capacity, the deputy governor commended the Kauran Gwandu Old Students’ Association (KAGOSA) for renaming the school after the governor saying it was a good gesture in view of the governor’s unwaivering support to education and philanthropic efforts to the society.
He added that the initiative was a clear testimony that the people were happy with the giant strides of the administration, especially in the education sector.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to recruit more teachers in 2024 and assured the volunteers of priority appointment if they abide by the rules and regulations governing the teaching profession.
Chairman of Kauran Gwandu Old Students’ Association, Abubakar Muhammad, expressed appreciation for the successes the school recorded before and during the Kauran Gwandu administration.
