Kebbi State government has concluded an arrangement to commence the Yauri Rigata Cultural and Heritage Festival for this year starting from Thursday, 7 February 4.

National chairman of the Organising Committee and the secretary to the state government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, announced this on Saturday at a news conference held in Birnin Kebbi.

Activities that would feature in the event include agricultural show, water plays, cultural and heritage show and the Rigata grand finale.

According to the chairman of the committee, the festival which started about 200 years ago, was initially organised by the Gungu people of Yauri in order to showcase their cultural and heritage activities to the world.

“This event is also revised by the present Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi and sponsored by the present administration of Governor Nasir Idris,” Tafida said.
