Gunmen who kidnapped a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Philip Ekeli and a seminarian, Peter Andrew, have demanded N200 million and a gun to release them, it was gathered yesterday.

The priest and seminarian were kidnapped on Monday at St Peter’s Catholic Church, Ivukwa in Etsako East local government area of Edo State.

Vigilante members and security agencies who had responded during the kidnap killed one of the gang members while another escaped with  injuries when they were intercepted.

Police spokesman, Moses Yamu, however said he was not aware of the development.

“In situations like this, there are bound to be all manner of insulations. Somebody even called me yesterday to say that he read that they had killed the Reverend Father but for now I am not aware of this development.”
