Kwara State is set to reclaim its top spot in squash in Nigeria after it emerged that the state government is leaving no stone unturned to complete what might well be first ultra modern squash court in the whole West Africa sub region.
Squash classics as far as Nigeria is concerned has always been restricted to Lagos.
But with the spanking new 10 court squash facility set for launch, the state government is planning big on the game which would be having a non competitive presence in the Paris 2014 Olympics.
“Yes, the governor is very keen on hosting an international Squash Classics in Kwara,” the executive chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, Bola Mogaji said.
Mogaji did not reveal other details of the planned event but insisted that it would be big. “The state government is making unprecedented investment in sports, making the sector fourth in Kwara after health education and works.
“The governor sees sports as an industry and cheapest place to invest money and reap maximum benefit in youth engagement,” Mogaji added.
