Nigerians have been tasked with working towards leaving legacies worthy of emulation in their endeavours, as exemplified by the immediate past Chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Apostle Folorunso Alakija.

Delivering the 1st Folorunso Alakija annual lecture to commemorate the exit of Alakija as the chancellor of UNIOSUN, a former Pro Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Yusuf Ali (SAN) charged Nigerians to emulate the virtues of hard work, integrity, resilience, giving, service, among others that are embedded in the business mogul.

Speaking on the topic “A life of impact and a legacy of service: Lessons from Apostle Folorunso Alakija, Ali noted that Alakija, the great philanthropist, lived a life that reflected moral reflection, leadership inquiry, and purposeful emulation.

His words, “What has emerged through this exploration is far more than the story of personal achievement.  It is a portrait of a life that reflects moral reflection, leadership inquiry, and purposeful emulation.”

According to him, “The measure of a life is not found merely in title held, wealth accumulated or influence attained but in impact made, lives transformed, communities strengthened, value embodied.  institution elevated and hope inspired”

He contended that true greatness is not measured by what one accumulates, but by what one contributes, adding that true leadership is not defined by prominence but by service.
