Manchester City have suffered an injury setback ahead of their Premier League derby against Manchester United on Sunday. Forward Omar Marmoush picked up a knee injury while on international duty with the Egyptian national team this week.
Marmoush was substituted in the ninth minute of Egypt’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Tuesday. The 26-year-old sustained a bruised knee ligament injury following a harsh tackle in the fourth minute of the match. Although he attempted to continue playing, he was taken off five minutes later.
The Egyptian FA announced that Marmoush had suffered a bruised knee ligament and will be assessed by Manchester City’s medical team. He will aim to recover in time for the match against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
