A non-governmental organisation, Social Integrity Network (SINET), has commended the minister of Women’s efforts to empower Nigerian women socially and economically.

The organisation, which promotes principles of equity, social justice, and economic development, passed a vote of confidence in the minister, who was described as an intelligent, experienced gender advocate with a selfless heart for humanity.

Citing initiatives by the minister that had addressed the plight of Nigerian women at home and her representation of Nigeria and her women at the international level, the national coordinator of SINET, Dalhatu Issah, said Sulaiman had demonstrated enough commitment to her office.

Issah particularly highlighted her initiatives on empowering women and their sources of livelihood, which include the Renewed Hope Food intervention, which provided palliatives to 30,000 women, the establishment of a Rice Processing Centre in Niger State for 1,500 rural women, and MOWA-SARA Programme, which trained 500 women in tailoring, catering and hairdressing.

In addition, the ministry collaborated with the Department for State Services (DSS) to train the widows of fallen soldiers in skills related to the agro-processing value chain.

“Since she assumed office in October 2024, the ministry has witnessed tremendous positive innovations. We therefore appeal to stakeholders in the Nigeria Project to be forward-looking and join Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim in her strides to consolidate and sustain the good work that she has been doing for the nation,” Issah stated.
