N/Delta Group Seeks Critical Stakeholders Support For MNDA, NDDC

A leadership accountability group in the Niger Delta, Niger Delta Network (NDN), has called on critical stakeholders in the region to support the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and Niger Delta Development Commission towards the speedy realization of Mr. President’s vision for the region.

The group made the call in a communique issued at the end of an enlarged meeting of NIGER DELTA NETWORK (NDN) held at Port Harcourt, Sunday, October 23, 2022

The communique which was signed by Eric Igbinokpogie Esq , Acting Secretary General, (NDN) and Dr. John Douglas Director,Public Communications, NDN, appreciated President Mohammadu Buhari for the timely appointment of a seasoned technocrat, Engr. Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, as the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

The group described the appointment as “a step in the right direction towards the eventual constitution of a substantive Board for the Commission”.

The communique further commended the Honourable Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, for his swift implementation of the directive by the President in the reformation of the Niger Delta Development Commission, as this is an indication of his commitment and readiness toward the development of the region.”

The communique reads in part “We congratulate the Acting Managing Director of NDDC, Engr. Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, on his meritorious appointment. While we pray God to grant him wisdom for a smooth sail in the discharge of his new responsibilities, we urge him to collaborate with critical stakeholders in the region, in order to positively change the narrative of the Niger Delta Region”.

The group revealed that as part of their responsibility towards ensuring the development of the region, it is currently on tour of projects undertaken by both MNDA and NDDC, noting that from preliminary findings there are projects which could be completed within the time frame of the Mohammadu Buhari’s administration.

On the flood situation in the region, the group called on MNDA, NDDC and relevant Federal interventionist agencies, to make available relief materials as well as camps to assuage the plight of the flood victims in the region.

The group applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his determination to develop the Niger Delta Region and appealed for the constitution of a substantive NNDC board in accordance with the enabling Act, without further delay.
