North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed food and non-food items to orphans, the physically-challenged, internally displaced persons (IDPs), communities, and vulnerable groups in Taraba State to cushion the current hardship in the country.

While delivering the items to the beneficiaries in Jalingo, the state capital, NEDC official, Mr Bashir Ngoroje, said the commission brought the items to the identified groups based on their number and needs.

He said the items included bags of rice, wrappers, spaghetti, vegetable oil, blankets, mats, children’s wears and sugar.

Ngoroje said all members of the groups would benefit from the items in the state.

He said, “Our management has directed us to identify the needy for onward distribution; we have identified orphanage homes, persons living with disabilities, IDPs, vulnerable groups and communities across the 16 local government areas of the state.

“We are distributing to them according to their numerical strength, every group is benefitting from all the available items.”

The coordinator of UMCN Orphanage Home, Mrs Gladys Meisule, who responded on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the commission for the kind gesture. She promised that the items would not be diverted.
