No fewer than 10 people have been killed and many houses burnt in a communal clash between the Fulani and Kamuku in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident yesterday was a reprisal of the earlier incident that occurred between the same tribal groups a few weeks ago, in which one person was killed.

It was learnt that the clashes occurred between the two villages of Mararraban Gwadaro and Tashan Bako, in the Rafi Local Government Area of the State.

An eye witness account revealed that those killed were mostly women and children who could not defend themselves as the clash became bloody.

The Chairman of Rafi Local Government Area, Ayuba Usman Katako, confirmed the clash but did not disclose the number of casualties, adding that an investigation has commenced to identify those responsible and make them face the wrath of the law.

While condemning the incident, he noted with displeasure that no responsible government would fold its arms and allow its people to be killed without action.

He added that security operatives had been adequately mobilised to the area to prevent a violent clash, assuring that normalcy would be restored to the warring communities.
