Nigeria ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Her Excellency, Deborah Iliya, has donated food items and exercise books to the less privileged orphans and widows in Chikun local government area (LGA) of Kaduna State.
Speaking during the presentation of the items, her coordinator, Pastor Mathias Sunday said Ambassador Iliya decided to extend the gesture to the less privileged in order to strengthen peaceful coexistence and unity amongst the citizens of Nigeria, irrespective of religion or ethnicity.
He said the gesture is also part of her humanitarian services to people, especially the less privileged in the society, orphans and widows adding that they should be shown and care for them.
Ambassador Iliya said she is also embarking on skills acquisition training where people, especially the youth will be trained on various skills acquisitions in order to make them self-reliant.
He further explained that she also initiated a scholarship programme, where prospective applicants will sit for an exam adding that whoever qualifies will get a five years scholarship.
