A newly appointed acting general officer commanding GOC 8 Division and Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI (JTF NW OPHD) has assumed duty.
He is Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, according to a statement issued in Sokoto by Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shittu, director of Army Public Relations of the Division.
Brig. Gen. Ajose, at the handing and taking over ceremony held at the Division’s Headquarters, Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto, took over from his predecessor, Major General Godwin Mutkut, who was posted to Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as the director of Military Technology.
While delivering his farewell address at 26 Battalion Parade Ground Giginya Barracks, Major General Mutkut eulogised the officers and soldiers of the Division for their unalloyed cooperation and support during his tenure, charging them to remain committed and disciplined.
The former GOC said the Division’s area of responsibility, AOR, is not strange to his successor as a one-time Brigade Commander.
He, therefore, expressed confidence in his capability to take the division to a greater height.
Earlier in his remarks, the new GOC and commander of JTF NW OPHD, Brigadier General Ajose, commended his predecessor for his successful track record while seeking continuous guidance.
He expressed willingness to work with all officers and soldiers towards lasting peace and stability within the Division’s AOR.
Brigadier General Ajose further wished his predecessor a successful tour of duty in his new office.
Until he was appointed the acting GOC and commander of JTF NW OPHD, Brigadier General Ajose was the director of administration at Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
Highlights of the event were the signing of the handing and taking over notes, the handing over of the command flag and the Quarter Guard parade.
