Ogun State-born fashion designer, Kuforiji Oluwaseun, has officially entered the Guinness World Records (GWR) for completing the longest sewing marathon, an extraordinary feat of skill, endurance, and dedication to craftsmanship.
Kuforiji sewed nonstop for an impressive 106 hours, 55 minutes, and 20 seconds between January 22 and January 26, 2024, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. His achievement was formally recognised on Friday when he received his official GWR certificate and plaque.
Using only a needle and thread, the talented designer demonstrated remarkable patience and expertise. Within the first six hours of the challenge, he had already completed a full Agbada outfit, showcasing his speed and precision. By the end of the marathon, he had sewn a total of 18 outfits, proving his resilience and unwavering commitment to his craft.
Kuforiji, a graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, is the founder of the fashion brand Koil Creations. His record-breaking achievement not only highlights his individual brilliance but also shines a spotlight on Nigeria’s thriving fashion industry and the artistry of its designers.
