A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, has said Nigerians will be the greatest beneficiaries of the new coalition on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Nwuke, who is also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed this in an interview with LEADERSHIP Sunday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
“No matter how imperfect the coalition may be, no matter what anybody says about the motive or quality of those who have put the coalition together, the truth is that the idea of the coalition is good for Nigeria.
“The Nigerian people who are shopping for political parties to invest in, in 2027, are going to be the greatest beneficiaries. They now have a choice to make while preparing to vote in the next election,” he said.
The former federal lawmaker said, at the moment, he is not thinking about leaving the PDP, despite the fact that many people believe that the party cannot heal its wounds.
“We are keenly watching the political landscape and I think that I am not in a hurry right now to say that I am thinking differently about my membership of the PDP.
“The PDP has had its fair share of trouble. As we speak, not many in the party believe that the once powerful PDP is in a position to heal its own wounds. Many are bailing out of the party; some in the direction of the APC, others in the direction of the coalition.
“For now, I am still in the PDP and I have not been overcome by the urge to leave. Let me however say that I belong to a group of like-minds who very much want to work together. When the time comes, we will all make a decision that we think would be in the overall interest of our state,” he stated.
