The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has extended the sale of nomination forms for the 2027 General Elections by one week.

In a statement issued on Monday in Lagos, the party’s secretary-general, Ogini Olaposi, said the decision followed a directive from the party’s Board of Trustees to the National Working Committee (NWC).

According to Olaposi, the directive was approved by the founder of the party, Boniface Aniebonam.

He explained that the extension became necessary due to delays by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in uploading the logo of the NNPP faction led by Agbo Gilbert Major.

The party has now fixed May 17 as the new deadline for the collection and submission of nomination forms.

NNPP also announced the fees for its nomination forms, with presidential aspirants expected to pay N5 million, governorship aspirants N2.5 million, Senate aspirants N1.5 million, House of Representatives aspirants N1 million, and House of Assembly aspirants N500,000.

Olaposi added that nomination forms would be free for women and persons living with disabilities, while elected officials seeking re-election would receive automatic tickets after purchasing the forms.

He further stated that the screening of candidates would proceed as earlier scheduled and urged aspirants to remain calm, assuring them that the issues with INEC would soon be resolved.

The party’s Board of Trustees also directed members of the National Working Committee to intensify efforts to ensure the NNPP fields candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 general elections.
