The Asagba of Asaba, Obi Epiphany Azinge, has called for more sensitisation on the various reforms of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The monarch made the request in his palace yesterday when the Delta State director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs Tracy Ikolomi, led her management team to pay him an advocacy visit.

he said a lot were being done but not much of awareness on the policies and programmes of the government was known.

“Your job is to sensitise Nigerians on the major benefits of government policies and programmes. The message is not trickling down. A lot is going on in Abuja, whether you support President Bola Tinubu. A lot of reforms but the sensitisation is not trickling down. Communication is very poor.

“All I can say is that I am accessible, I am available, and I am ready to partner with you so that we can get some of these things right,” Asagba stated.

The monarch challenged NOA, to do more in sensitising the young ones on the fundamental human rights as provided for in Chapter Four of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended.

The traditional ruler who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, expressed the preparedness of his palace to partner  in sensitising Asaba indigenes and residents on morals and national values .

Obi Azinge said awareness of basic rights was key in a democratic setting, and that it would help in bringing about a better society.

“NOA should speak to the people in the language they will understand. You can create awareness on the fundamental human rights by simplifying the document. In Delta, you should translate in some of the major ethnic languages: Igbo, Urhobos, Itsekiri, Isoko, Ijaw. That is the challenge before you.

‘We believe in moral issues, and insist that things should be done in the right way. We preach and practise accountability and transparency, even at the traditional institution level,” he said.

Earlier, the Delta State Director of the NOA, Mrs Tracy Ikolomi said the advocacy visit was to solicit the support and cooperation of the Asagba of Asaba in dissemination of NOA messages on national value charter, the pathway to national cohesion, development and unity programme as well as policies and programmes of government to the people.
