New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has condemned what it described as deliberate and shameless attempt by the expelled party to twist the ruling of the Abuja High Court by misinforming the public about the disposed matter.
According to the North East of the party, the nefarious activities of the expelled members are not only misleading, but a clear ploy to confuse party members and distort public perception for self aggrandizement.
A communique of the northeast zonal meeting of the party in Bauchi Monday read by the NNPP zonal vice chairman, Hon. Sabo Imam Gashuwa reaffirmed the current leadership of NNPP, as registered with INEC, which remained the only legitimate authority of the party.
It said, “By virtue of Section 222(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution and Sections 81 and 83 of the Electoral Act 2022, only records duly filed with INEC are recognized. The names and actions of the expelled members are not recorded nor acknowledged by INEC as affirmed in court.”
Hon. Sabo Gashuwa therefore urged all members of the NNPP in the North-East to remained disciplined, united, and focused, saying “Our zone continues to grow stronger and gain public support, and we will not allow distractions or sponsored propaganda to derail our progress”.
“We pledge to defend the integrity of the NNPP at all levels and remain resolute in advancing the ideals of internal democracy, transparency, and grassroots mobilisation. No attempt to hijack or destabilize the party will succeed under our watch”, Gashuwa added.
The northeast zonal leadership of the party also assured it’s teeming supporters that the NNPP remained united and under one leadership-led nationally by Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and urged the public to disregard the antics of expelled individuals and continue supporting the party as they work together for a better Nigeria.
“We reaffirm our total and unshakable loyalty to our national leader, Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whose vision and steadfast leadership continue to guide the NNPP across the nation. We also pledge our commitment to the National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, as duly recognized by INEC and in accordance with the party’s constitution”, the communique stated.
“We stand in full alignment with the recent press release of the NNPP National Secretariat dated 3rd April 2025, regarding the ruling of the FCT High Court. The decision of Justice M.A. Hassan to decline jurisdiction did not in any way invalidate the existing Federal High Court judgment of 18th April 2024, which upheld the expulsion of Boniface Aniebonam, Major Agbo, Olaposi Oginni, and others”
The Bauchi meeting urged all members of the NNPP in the Northeast zone to remain disciplined, united, and focused, stressing that the party in the zone has continued to grow stronger and gain public support, hence it will not allow distractions or sponsored propaganda to derail the party progress.
The NNPP in the Northeast zone comprising Gombe, Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Taraba, and Bauchi States-and under the leadership of the Zonal Vice Chairman, has the communique countersigned by NNPP Gombe state chairman, Dr. Abdullahi M.A. (Walee); Adamawa State NNPP Chairman, Alh. Bamanga Tukur Sali Mubi; Borno State NNPP Chairman, Barr. Mustapha Mohammed; Yobe State NNPP Chairman, Hon. Y.M. Shehu Damagum; NNPP Taraba State Chairman, Abubakar Na’ibi Bala; and the Bauchi State Chairman of the NNPP, Hon. Abdullahi Ali Muhammad.
