PICTORIAL: Lagos Gov’t Shuts Business Premises Over Environmental Pollution, Others

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed off some hotels, lounges and bars over environmental pollution and other infractions.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in the state, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab who disclosed this on his X handle remarked that despite prior warnings, the businesses were violating various environmental regulations.

According to him, “In a bold move to combat environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) today sealed off several establishments across Lagos State.

“The enforcement operation, which targeted areas such as Fagba, Iyana Ipaja, Ifako-Ijaiye, and Orile Agege, forms part of LASEPA’s ongoing efforts to enforce environmental laws and safeguard public health.

“The affected establishments include; Chanelrose Lounge & Bar, Mama Juli Lounge & Bakery, Klub P-14 Hotel, Emmy Prince Hotel, Baltimat Industries Limited, Iju Ishaga City Hotel & Lounge, Chitec Aluminum, and Safeland Hotel,” he said

The Commissioner added that the action was part of the efforts to achieve an improved, safer and sustainable environment in the state.

In related development, officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps also known as KAI, on Tuesday, arrested 20 suspected miscreants terrorising Oshodi area of the state.

The arrests were also disclosed by the Commissioner on his official X handle, narrating that the suspected miscreants were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday during a patrol.

He said, “Twenty miscreants arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps at Oshodi during early morning patrol.”

Recall that the Lagos State Task force said it would prosecute the 28 miscreants it earlier arrested in some parts of the state for terrorising and extorting motorists along Mile 2, Alaba Rago, FESTAC and Apapa areas of the state.
