The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down an illegal cosmetic factory at the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State.
The agency disclosed this in a post on its official X formerly Twitter handle on Tuesday.
According to the agency, “NAFDAC officers raided the location discovering various unregistered chemicals and packaging materials, along with expired products that were being revalidated for sale.
“The operation also led to the seizure of over 1,200 cartons of fake cosmetic products.”
Meanwhile, other items confiscated include mini-mixing containers, unlabeled chemicals, batch coding materials, and thinners which were all moved to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.
Similarly, the agency revealed the estimated street value of the confiscated items to be around N50 million.
NAFDAC, however, urged the public to be cautious when purchasing cosmetic products and report any suspicious activities to its nearest office.
