Police Arrest 5 Over Car Theft In Ebonyi

Operatives of the Ebonyi State Police Command have arrested one Okoro Daniel Obumneme over the accusation of stealing a Black Toyota Prado SUV belonging to a customer who patronised a car wash at the Abakaliki Shopping Mall where the suspect was employed.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Joshua Ukandu, the suspect was traced to Mgbuka Obosi in Anambra State where he intended to sell the vehicle before it was recovered.

Relatedly, operatives of the Command also arrested one Praise Chukwudi, 30 years; Chukwudi Victor Onuagba, 27 years, Solomon Friday Godwin, 25 years, and Chidiebere Chidozie, 24 years, all males, for conspiracy and for stealing a Mercedes 300 car from one Kenneth Aluma ‘M’ at Ndufu Alike Ikwo at gunpoint.

“They also robbed one Ogoh Chimaobi Solomon ‘M’ who operates a POS machine and made away with cash of six hundred and one thousand Naira (N601,000) and a Camon 19 Tecno phone.

He noted that the suspects were arrested through a painstaking intelligence gathering at Precious Guest House Onicha in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi State, where the vehicle and two locally-made guns were recovered from them.

DSP Ukandu said that the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation into the matter is concluded.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia Uche-Anya has assured the residents of the state that the command would leave no stone unturned in going after criminals who refuse to desist from their criminal acts.
