All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has asked the the Kwankwasiyya faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to retract its  allegations that the Kano State government influenced court proceedings within 72 hours.

Describing the claim as false and defamatory, the ruling party said it would begin a legal action against the NNPP if it fails to retract the allegation.

APC, in a statement by its spokesperson, Auwalu Soja Gwale, said the allegation—reportedly made by factional NNPP spokesperson, Ibrahim Karaye—was baseless and aimed at undermining the judiciary.

Gwale specifically denied claims that the state government paid huge sums to influence proceedings at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, calling for an immediate retraction.

He said the party had given Karaye and the NNPP a 72-hour ultimatum to withdraw the allegation, apologise publicly and desist from making similar claims or face legal action.

The APC described the allegation as “false, malicious and legally indefensible,” maintaining that the Kano State Government had never interfered with judicial processes.

According to the statement, the claim reflects a pattern of “reckless rhetoric” by some NNPP elements whenever political outcomes do not favour them.

The party urged the Kwankwasiyya faction to concentrate on resolving its internal leadership crisis, pointing to ongoing litigations involving factions linked to Boniface Aniebonam and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

It added that it was inappropriate for a party facing internal disputes to accuse the judiciary of corruption without evidence.

The APC reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and urged the public to disregard the allegation, insisting it lacked merit.
