Rivers United head coach Finidi George has declared that his side is ready to mount another strong title challenge in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Pride of Rivers narrowly lost the crown to Remo Stars last term after a fierce campaign.
Finidi’s men began the new season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the holders at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, last Friday.
They will next face Kwara United in a matchday two clash at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Sunday.
“It’s good that the fixture is coming strong, with tough teams, because if there are mistakes we will know how to correct them,” Finidi told Rivers United’s media.
“We are not scared of any team this season. We will play our best football, and hopefully, we will get the result we deserve.”
Meanwhile Rivers United has thrown its gate open for the Kwara United showdown tomorrow.
The management of the club disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. They urged the club’s supporters to join them for the game.
Rivers United held reigning NPFL champions, Remo Stars, to a 1-1 draw in their opening fixture of the new season.
