A senator, who represented the Federal Capital Territory, Philip Tanimu Aduda, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, citing the lingering crisis within the party.

Aduda, in a letter dated March 17, 2026, addressed to the chairman of the party in Karu Ward, Abuja, said his resignation takes immediate effect.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” he stated.

The former lawmaker, who represented the FCT in the Senate from 2011 to 2023, expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve in various elective positions.

“I remain grateful for the opportunity the party gave me to serve in various elective positions in our nation,” he added.

His resignation is expected to have political implications in the FCT, where he remains a prominent figure.
