Wife of Lagos State governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu yesterday urged Nigerian children to shun all forms of vices and be committed to their education, saying they must see Easter season as a period to reflect on how to sustain peaceful coexistence in the country.
The governor’s wife who stated this at the 2024 edition of the Lagos State Family Easter Fiesta organised by the Office of Lagos State First Lady held at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja noted that the programme is part of the activities by her office since 2021 to ensure the season is celebrated in grand style.
She added that the theme for this year’s festivity, “Power of Resurrection” explains the sufferings of Christ, saying Christians are meant to go deeper in their relationship with him.
The governor’s wife who was earlier represented by the wife of the Lagos Deputy Governor Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat added that,’’ the Easter Family Fiesta has been sustained by the Office of the First Lady in the calendar of activities in the state to commemorate the significance of Easter and celebrate with the families, especially the children across the state.
‘’My Dear Children, beyond the celebration, I encourage you not to lose track of the significance of the Easter Season. I urge you all to imbibe the spirit of tolerance, peaceful co-existence, and sacrifice for one another, which Jesus Christ demonstrated throughout his period on earth.
‘’Let me stress that the resurrection of Christ should be a constant reminder for everyone to extend the virtues of selflessness, love, sacrifice, and tolerance.
Besides, our tradition, the Family Easter Fiesta also provides a unique platform to pray for our children, admonish them with the word of God, show them love and care, listen to their yearnings and aspirations, and share in their excitement, while also presenting them with amazing gifts to truly make the Easter celebration worthwhile and memorable.’’
