Tinubu Deserves Second Term, Say Road Transport Employers

Ahead of the January 16, 2027 general election, the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has declared that President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term in office to consolidate on his achievements.

The President of RTEAN, Dr. Musa Muhammadu-Maitakobi, stated this while addressing journalists during a working visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.

Maitakobi, who was accompanied by some officials of the association, said the party was a home of peace and hope for Nigerians, hence their visit to its secretariat.

Asked whether President Tinubu deserves a second term in office going by his achievements, the RTEAN boss answered in the affirmative, saying the president would have a “well-deserved victory for a second term.”

He said the present oil price hike was not a Nigerian problem but a global challenge, adding that members of the association were doing their best to curtail the effects of the increase on Nigerians.

“This is not a problem of Nigeria; it is a global problem, and you and I can only pray that the Almighty God, Allah, will stop what is happening and bring the price down.

“Let me tell you, do not expect that a businessman who bought something for 10 naira will come and sell it for 9 naira. Automatically, the demand will be steep because he cannot subsidise what he did not buy within that range.

“But what we usually do, based on your question, is try to reduce the price. For instance, instead of gaining 10 naira, we may settle for gaining only 5 naira so that we can assist ourselves.

“My call to Nigerians is that we should have the fear of God so that we can do things we can defend before the Almighty God, Allah. If you buy something at a cheap price, you too should sell it at a cheap price.

“If you buy it at a high price, try to minimise the profit so that you do not expect to gain too much. You should bring the price down,” Maitakobi added.

Speaking on other impacts of the association in the country, the RTEAN president said: “As you can see, the system of thuggery has already been eradicated.

“Oligarchism has been eradicated. The issue of ‘one chance’ has also been eradicated. This is what we are working towards. Inshallah, we will achieve our aim.”
