Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has said President Bola Tinubu has been encouraging them as political leaders to always deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

This came as the Ekiti State governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji said governors, federal lawmakers, state lawmakers, local government chairmen and others holding elective positions are delivering democracy dividends to Nigerians on behalf of the president.

Bamidele and Governor Oyebanji spoke in Ado Ekiti at the 2024 mega empowerment programme powered by the federal lawmaker for over 5,000 constituents in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

The Senate Leader said, “This is part of what the government is encouraging us to do for the people. We will continue to do our best and all we can to make you enjoy some of the basic dividends of democracy.

‘’This is simply part of my way of giving back to the system. In doing this, let me once again use this as a unique opportunity to say thank you to Governor Biodun Oyebanji who has consistently, deliberately and intentionally provided for me a conducive atmosphere to do my job not only in Ekiti state but at the federal level in the National Assembly.”

He said the essence of what was being done is to ensure that thousands of people benefit from the empowerment programme.

“Let me also say this, that this empowerment programme ought to have been done since December last year for the year 2024. So, the 2025 empowerment programme is still on the way because this is for 2024.”

In his address, Governor Oyebanji thanked the Senate Leader for being a proper representative of his people saying the empowerment programme is the one that is visible to the blind and audible deaf. What is happening here today, is what is possible when there is unity among political leaders.

He said, “When Senator Bamidele was delivering his speech, one thing came to my mind, and I remembered the day President Bola Tinubu came to Ekiti to campaign for himself and Senate Leader, he said Ekiti Central people, give me Opeyemi he is my son, he has my ears, I need him in Abuja and Ekiti Central gave him to the president. You can now see the result of that now.’’
