President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary at Ward E in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
Speaking after voting, President Tinubu described the exercise as a demonstration of internal democracy within the ruling party, saying the process had gone “very well according to plan.”
He said every member of the APC had the right to participate in the electoral process at the grassroots level.
“This is politics, grassroots politics, where every member of the party has a right to participate and be involved. It’s to ensure that we have an internal democracy and it’s peaceful and well-organized,” the President said.
Tinubu also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries across the country, commending APC governors for organising the process in their various states.
“Today, I am very satisfied, very, very satisfied that these governors, they’ve done well in their various states. In fact, from the ward congresses to local government congresses, to the delegate accreditation, validation, members register, and certification of the electoral process, it has been all very well.
“At least, you will score democracy at a high level,” he said.
Responding to supporters who turned out in large numbers at the polling unit, the President said their show of support inspired him further.
“I’m just excited. They challenge me more,” Tinubu said.
The APC presidential primary was conducted nationwide on Saturday ahead of the 2027 general election.
