First Lady, Remi Tinubu, has emphasized the vital role of women in reviving the nation’s well-being .
She disclosed this during a high-profile meeting with wives of former All Progressive Congress(APC )Governors at the State House in Abuja.
According to a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the closed-door meeting aimed to garner support for the Government’s various initiatives, with a particular focus on the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
Tinubu announced a strategic partnership between the Former First Ladies and incumbent Governors in their respective states to address the effects of new government policies and work towards a better future.
Addressing the media, the First Lady highlighted the significance of collaborating with women who have previously held positions of power and influence, as well as the wives of religious leaders and traditional rulers who have also expressed their commitment to the cause.
“These women are all mothers of the nation in their own right, and their experience and dedication will be invaluable in nursing our nation back to health,” she said .
She acknowledged the vastness of the task ahead and the need for collective efforts.
She also clarified that the involvement of Former Governors’ wives would not undermine the roles of the current Governors’ wives. Instead, the objective is to tap into their wisdom and expertise to achieve the shared goal of national development.
During the meeting, the First Lady expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support from the Former Governors’ wives during the electioneering period, which ultimately led to the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others.
Speaking on behalf of the Wives of the Former Governors, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the Former Governor of Ekiti State’s wife, pledged full cooperation in realizing the Government’s objectives.
She commended the First Lady’s efforts to recognize the significant contributions of women during elections and their crucial role in nation-building.
The gathering also witnessed the presence of other distinguished personalities, including Her Excellency Hajia Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, and Her Excellency Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, wife of the Senate President, along with wives of 13 former Governors.
