The Yobe State Project Coordinator of the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project, Alhaji Musa Idi Jidawa has restated their commitments towards maintaining the policy of ensuring sustainability in design as well as inclusiveness in the implementation throughout the remaining period of the project in the state.

Jidawa stated this when the World Bank’s MCRP implementation support mission task team led by Faud Malkawi accompanied by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) entourage visited the Yobe project unit in Damaturu.

The coordinator said prioritizing sustainability and inclusiveness in the implementation of the projects are key to realization of the set objectives for value on the money spent.

He said, “Sustainability has remained at the centre of our interventions as we have taken steps to improve operations and maintenance of the infrastructure completed under component 2 to secure their sustainability.

“The intensity of our engagement with the MDAs has increased, trying to identify and prioritize their operational level needs and ensure these are incorporated in the procurement process. Series of training were conducted across sectors targeting technical staff from the line MDAs.

“The training was geared towards building capacities for effective and sustainable management of the structures and systems put in place by the project.

“We will continue with this momentum of embedment of sustainability components in our design, inclusive approach in implementation and quality in delivery throughout the remaining period of the project to achieve value for money and maximize the positive outcomes of the project among its diverse beneficiaries,” Jidawa assured.

The team leader Mr Faud Malkawi said they are in the state to ascertain the level of compliance and set targets for implementation of the future projects.

“This is a critically important mission because it comes about six month ahead of the original closing date of the project.  So based on that the mission will look at compliance of all aspects and especially the ability to finish all projects.”
