The Yobe State Agency for the Control of AIDS (YOSACA) in collaboration with the Centre for Child Care and Human Development (C3HD) has embarked on an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign at the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) camp.
A statement issued by the Information Officer of the agency, Abubakar Dauda said the exercise, which took place at the NYSC orientation camp in Dazigau, Nangere local government area was meant to encourage the corps members on the need for voluntary testing among others.
The executive director, Yobe State Agency for the Control of AIDS (YOSACA) Dr. Jibrin Damazai said the initiative was aimed at educating the corps members on HIV/AIDS as well as the need to reduce stigmatisation in the society.
Damazai said the exercise was also meant to promote healthy behaviors through comprehensive awareness, voluntary testing, and counseling services.
“The program is designed not only to inform, but also to facilitate voluntary testing and personal counseling.
“By fostering an environment of acceptance and understanding, YOSACA and C3HD vowed to empower every participant to take charge of their health and wellbeing.
“We appreciate the commitment of the NYSC and other stakeholders in supporting this initiative, reflecting our collective responsibility to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic and ensure a healthier future for all.
“Together, let us work towards a stigma-free society and a generation well-informed about their health choices,” the ED said.
