Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it would to take legal action against the minister of state for defence, Bello Mohammed Mattawalle, for defaming Governor Dauda Lawal.
In a statement, the spokesman of the party, Halliru Andi, said the party had concluded arrangements to take legal action against Matawalle for character assassination and baseless claims against the governor.
He said, “We have been monitoring the body language and unguarded utterances of Bello Matawalle and are considering court action against him.
“We have resolved to initiate legal action against him just to remind him of his limits as a junior minister without immunity and to serve as a deterrent to other egoistic politicians in the state,” he said.
Andi maintained that likely to be joined in the suit are some of Matawalle’s aides who partake in character assassination or lying against the Zamfara State governor.
“It’s foolhardy to rely on the human person to check himself in all circumstances”.
“If not, how can Matawalle sum up the courage to speak ill of another person. We are fed up with the excesses of Matawalle and his boys.
“We have tolerated enough of Matawalle’s drama and unguarded utterances against the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal,” he said.
He stressed that the PDP would no longer tolerate the politics of bitterness from Matawalle’s faction of the APC.
“We can’t be intimidated by Matawalle or his sinking faction of the APC,” Andi added.
